Ages

So, it's been ages since I've blogged. Sorry to those of you that check here for updates (I don't think there are actually that many of you, though). Life has just been busy this fall, plus I'm not very creative when it comes to thinking of things to write about. But anyway...

...the pictures above are from my hiking trip to Colorado with 30 awesome women from church! It was a FABULOUS trip! After a 15-hour car ride, we finally arrived in Lake City. I didn't realize it was possible to drive 15 hours from Kansas and still be only one state over. Thankfully, the four of us in our car had lots of great conversation and the time really passed quickly. Just being in the mountains makes me smile. I love the peacefulness and quietness of it. The lodge we stayed at has a couple of lovely wooden porch swings. I just wanted to sit on the swings and swing all day long. So refreshing! I successfully summited my first 14,000+ foot high mountain! I loved every minute of it...this from the girl that doesn't really like to walk! I used hiking polls for the first time and I think that made a big difference. It definitely saved my legs and gave me stability. Plus, my toes, which usually get squished as I'm going downhill, were the most comfortable they've EVER been on a hike. My new hiking boots are definitely keepers!! The evenings of the trip were spent worshiping and listening to an amazing speaker, who really touched the heart of every woman on the trip. All in all, it was just a great trip in every way!

Shortly after returning from Colorado, I headed to Anaheim, California for the annual US Masters Swimming (USMS) convention. Think lots of time talking about minute details of USMS rules and legislation. But, it is fun to see swimming friends from around the country. Plus, a group of us went to Disneyland on Saturday night! We were probably the only people in the park with no kids with us, but we had a great time. We just laughed the whole evening!

The other highlight of this fall has been KU football!!! They are 9-0!!! Yes, this is Kansas, football, (not basketball) and they're undefeated! Although totally shocking, it's been soooo fun! I'm just hoping they can keep it going. Tonight's game against Oklahoma State is going to be tough! Rock Chalk!!
